Projects

The lab studies all sorts of questions related to microbes, nutrients, and/or water using tools from microbial ecology, biogeochemistry, and bioinformatics.

Most project revolve around three themes: (1) understanding nitrogen cycling microbial ecology and biogeochemistry in aquatic ecosystems, (2) studying the ecology and physiology of novel archaea in aquatic ecosystems, (3) tracing the sources of antibiotic resistance genes to rural and urban ecosystems, and (4) studying microbial ecology in other miscellaneous environments.
